In a dramatic display of protest, Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj and women councillors gathered outside the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The demonstrators demanded action following allegations of rape involving a three-year-old girl at a Janakpuri school.
The protest, centered around accusations of police threatening the victim's family, aimed to secure a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor. While police denied such intimidation, they removed protesters, citing the need to maintain law and order.
A 57-year-old school staff member was arrested the day after the allegations were made. Despite opposition, he was granted bail, raising questions about the case's handling and prompting renewed calls for justice from AAP leaders.
