Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, has called on BRICS nations to denounce what he termed the United States' and Israel's violations of international law. His comments came during a gathering in Delhi, where diplomats from emerging economies held talks amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Araqchi accused the United Arab Emirates of direct military involvement against Iran, a rare confrontation in a joint setting since the conflict began on February 28. The semi-official Mehr News Agency reported that the UAE was present at the meeting, represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar.
India, which holds the BRICS chair for 2026, has been significantly affected by the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipment rout. Amid the ceasefire, tensions persist, marked by maritime incidents that threaten global economic stability.
