A tragic explosion at a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district has left five dead and 23 injured, prompting an outcry from the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The party has squarely blamed corruption and political protection for the disaster.
Party officials highlight labor law violations, inadequate safety measures, and license renewal controversies. CPI(M) state secretary Jaswinder Singh claims laborers were exploited and points to a previous report warning of safety hazards near the factory.
The party demands Rs 1 crore for each deceased's kin and Rs 10 lakh for the injured, urging charges and a probe into alleged political connections. The incident revives memories of the 2015 Petlawad explosions, hinting at repeated neglect.
