In a significant drug bust, two women were arrested on Friday after police recovered about 1 kg of opium from their possession on the city's outskirts, officials reported. The incident unfolded during a patrol operation.
A police team, stationed on the Ring Road under the Miran Sahib jurisdiction, intercepted the women who were behaving suspiciously. Detecting the approaching officers, the women attempted to escape but were promptly captured.
Authorities identified the suspects as Pooja Rathore and Anita Kanwar from Bhilwara, Rajasthan. They carried polythene packets containing an opium-like substance, roughly weighing 1 kg in total. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act to delve deeper into the matter.
