Operation Prahar: Dehradun Police Unravel Rs 1.55 Crore Cash Mystery

In a significant bust, Dehradun Police seized approximately Rs 1.55 crore of unaccounted cash from a Maharashtra-registered SUV during a routine check in the Rajendra Nagar area. The operation, part of 'Operation Prahar,' was carried out by a team from the Cantt police station.

Acting on intelligence, the police intercepted the SUV on Sirmour Marg and discovered currency notes cleverly hidden in a secret compartment between the vehicle's middle and rear seats. The driver, identified as Satish Bhai from Mehsana, Gujarat, failed to provide documentation for the cash.

Two other occupants, Jaswant Sangh Banaji and Sachin Patel, also from Gujarat, were detained. The Income Tax Department is now leading the investigation to determine the legitimacy and source of the funds, with preliminary findings indicating the cash was transported from Varanasi.
