The Uttar Pradesh Police is ramping up efforts to enforce its 'Social Media Policy-2023.' According to a circular issued on May 15 by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Abhitabh Yash, department and office heads have been instructed to identify personnel who violate this policy through inappropriate social media activity.
The initiative follows incidents where both serving and trainee officers posted objectionable content. Such activities, according to the communication, are not only disrupting official work but are also tarnishing the image of the police force. Immediate departmental action is expected against those found guilty.
The directive mandates a monthly report of actions taken, including preserving objectionable material and URLs for records. This enforcement comes with the sanction of the Director General of Police, ensuring comprehensive adherence across the force.
