Ladakh's Wage Hike: A New Dawn for Worker Welfare
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, approved a wage hike for daily, part-time, seasonal, and need-based workers, increasing daily wages to Rs 575 from Rs 450. This move benefits thousands across various administration departments and ensures transparency through a Direct Benefit Transfer system.
In a significant welfare initiative, Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has sanctioned an increase in daily wages for various worker categories from the Union Territory Administration. The new rate is set at Rs 575 per day, up from the previous Rs 450, offering substantial financial benefits to numerous workers.
The decision, aimed at acknowledging the efforts of daily, part-time, and seasonal workers, will categorize employees as 'skilled' or 'unskilled', with corresponding pay adjustments. Skilled workers will receive Rs 575 per day, whereas unskilled labor will earn Rs 450 daily. This wage rationalization follows numerous requests for fair remuneration.
To ensure fair implementation, wages will now be disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer, a move that enhances both transparency and accountability. The administration stresses that this measure is a step towards fair compensation and not a guarantee for job regularization.
