In a startling case of forgery, a woman from Pune has been apprehended for allegedly securing employment through deceptive means. Rupali Tengle, who had obtained a Group C Laboratory Technician position, was found to have used a fake disability certificate in Palghar district.
The fraudulent document, which Tengle claimed was issued by a government medical body in Dhule, enabled her to top the merit list under a special disability category. Her deceit went unnoticed until December 2024, when it was revealed that the certificate did not have the required approval from the official Medical Board.
Following a complaint by Health Assistant Administrative Officer Monika Dwarkanath Raut, Tengle's employment was annulled, and she was arrested. Authorities are investigating further as Tengle remains in police custody, facing charges that highlight the rigorous checks needed in hiring processes.
