Mamata Banerjee, the TMC supremo and former West Bengal Chief Minister, strongly criticized the state's recent eviction and anti-encroachment actions on Sunday, branding them as 'bulldozer politics.' She expressed concern that these measures primarily burden the poor, attributing such issues to political arrogance.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Banerjee voiced that the operations have triggered unrest and hardship for the common citizens. She condemned the approach, arguing that the state of West Bengal, historically rich in culture, cannot be governed through fear, force, or demolition tactics against ordinary people.
Her comments aligned with protests surrounding extensive demolition activities near Howrah Station and confrontations in the Park Circus area, reflecting social discontent. As violence erupted during a demonstration against these measures, Banerjee emphasized that governance should prioritize humanity over optics and should protect the dignity and livelihoods of its vulnerable residents.
