A self-proclaimed godman in Maharashtra's Dhule district allegedly committed two murders revealed police on Monday. Yogesh alias Bhaiyya Bapu Khairnar is accused of killing a woman after a failed sexual assault and subsequently murdering her friend following rituals at his ashram.
Khairnar was arrested following the discovery of the woman's body covered with a cloth and weighed down by a stone. A police investigation found she was an employee of a private finance company, visiting the ashram for rituals amid personal disputes.
The investigation uncovered Khairnar's confession to the murders. Charges under relevant sections were filed, yet the police probe continues. A recovery of evidence pointed investigators to Khairnar's ashram, sealing his fate under law enforcement scrutiny.
