Odisha's Keonjhar district is witnessing a major clampdown on illegal sand mining with the initiation of 'Operation Baitarani'.
Police recently raided 12 sites and apprehended 10 individuals allegedly involved in the illicit operations. The raids, concentrated in areas such as Anandpur and Ghasipura, uncovered over Rs 27 lakh in cash, believed to be the proceeds of these illegal activities.
Seized items included fake transit passes and 30 vehicles linked to unlawful sand extraction. Authorities are conducting in-depth investigations and interrogations as they intensify their campaign against the sand mafia, which has already led to numerous legal actions and arrests.
