Senior advocate T Asaf Ali has been appointed the Director General of Prosecution by Kerala's Chief Minister, V D Satheesan. Stressing the importance of fair prosecution, Ali stated that the duty of prosecutors is to act as 'ministers of justice' ensuring fairness and impartiality.

Announcing his agenda, Ali emphasized a review of the prosecution's last decade, aiming to identify and correct any lapses. He also plans to reintroduce training programs for public prosecutors, a move he pioneered during his tenure with the UDF government from 2011 to 2016.

Ali underscored the importance of accountability, promising an unbiased approach in investigations, including the controversial 2023 Youth Congress incident. His appointment seeks to foster a just prosecution environment, ensuring justice for victims and the accused alike.
