Delhi Police Stages High-Stakes Mock Terror Drill at Taj Hotel

Delhi Police conducted a mock terror drill at the Taj Hotel in Chanakyapuri to evaluate emergency response and inter-agency coordination. The exercise simulated a terror attack, with armed terrorists taking hostages. Specialized units, including SWAT, intervened to neutralize the threat and rescue hostages.

Delhi Police conducted a high-profile anti-terror mock drill at the iconic Taj Hotel in Chanakyapuri, officials announced on Monday. The drill aimed to evaluate the emergency response and inter-agency coordination during a simulated terror attack. Senior officers from the New Delhi district led the exercise.

The simulation involved armed assailants entering the hotel after firing shots and taking hostages inside Mumtaz Hall, where about 400 people were gathered. Upon receiving a simulated PCR call at 2.52 pm on May 16, local police units, PCR vans, motorcycle patrols, and anti-terror personnel rapidly arrived, securing the area.

Specialized teams, including SWAT, Special Cell, Bomb Disposal Squad, Crime Team, and more, participated in the drill. A 13-member SWAT team executed a tactical intervention, neutralizing the simulated terrorists and rescuing the hostages. The exercise, which concluded around 4.30 pm, also involved anti-sabotage checks, demonstrating Delhi's preparedness for potential threats.
