Truck Driver Jailed for Cocaine Smuggling in Shapewear Shipment

A British court has sentenced Jakub Jan Konkel to 13½ years in prison for attempting to smuggle 90 kilograms of cocaine worth $9.4 million, concealed in a shipment of Kim Kardashian's Skims shapewear, into the UK from the Netherlands.

A sensational drug smuggling case has led to the conviction of a truck driver by a British court. The driver, Jakub Jan Konkel, was sentenced to 13½ years in prison for attempting to import 90 kilograms (198 pounds) of cocaine hidden among a shipment of Skims shapewear clothing.

The illegal activity was intercepted at a port in Essex, and authorities have revealed that the truck had been specially modified to hide the cocaine in its back doors. The National Crime Agency confirmed that both the exporter from the Netherlands and the intended UK importer were uninvolved in the narcotic operation.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of £7 million, would have netted Konkel €4,500 ($5,243) for their delivery. This case highlights the methods and risks involved in international drug trafficking and the importance of vigilant customs enforcement.
