In shocking news from Turkiye, an armed man executed a series of tragic attacks in the southern city of Tarsus, killing at least six individuals and wounding eight more, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday. The assaults have raised alarm over the increasing gun violence plaguing the nation.
Police, bolstered by helicopters and drone surveillance, are actively hunting for the gunman who is reportedly still at large. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Metin O, is alleged to have begun his rampage by shooting his wife on a busy street, before turning his weapon on a local restaurant, where he killed the owner and an employee.
Further fatalities were reported in another neighborhood, where Metin O allegedly continued his deadly spree, resulting in the deaths of a teenager, a 50-year-old man, and another individual, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
