UP: Man climbs high-tension tower demanding to marry girlfriend, booked

A 24-year-old man who climbed a high-tension electricity tower in Safiabad village demanding to marry his girlfriend was brought down after nearly two hours of persuasion, police said on Wednesday. A police team led by the station house officer reached the scene and persuaded him to come down from the tower after nearly two hours of effort.

A 24-year-old man who climbed a high-tension electricity tower in Safiabad village demanding to marry his girlfriend was brought down after nearly two hours of persuasion, police said on Wednesday. He was later booked for breach of peace. Syohara police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar said the incident took place late Tuesday night.

According to police, Samir climbed the high-tension power tower near the railway track around 11 pm and began shouting that he wanted to marry his girlfriend.

Police said the man was allegedly upset following a dispute with his girlfriend. Hearing the commotion, villagers gathered at the spot and informed the police. A police team led by the station house officer reached the scene and persuaded him to come down from the tower after nearly two hours of effort.
