Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana confirmed on Tuesday that the state police adhered to established protocols in the investigation of former model Twisha Sharma's alleged dowry death. His statement comes amidst rising questions about the thoroughness of the initial inquiry.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the case at the behest of Twisha's family, after state police charged her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, ex-judge Giribala Singh, with multiple dowry-related offenses. The CBI has now re-registered an FIR against the suspects, reflecting the serious charges levelled by the state police.
DGP Makwana also underlined that the state police have been instrumental in developing strategic recruitment to address personnel shortages, crucial for ongoing operations in Naxal-affected areas and to prepare for upcoming events like the Simhastha fair in 2028.
