Mumbai's Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad has accused the BJP administration of leveraging the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to tamper with voter lists in their favor.
Speaking to Congress members, Gaikwad stressed the importance of protecting voter rights, describing them as the core of democracy. She alleged that the manipulation of voter lists through the SIR is evident in several states, resulting in significant voter removals.
The meeting assessed the ongoing SIR status in Mumbai and strategized actions for booth-level agents to safeguard citizens' right to vote. Congress spokesperson Sureshchandra Rajhans highlighted Gaikwad's call to strengthen the organization and ramp up public issue campaigns.
