In a strong accusation, Kerala's Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala held the CPI(M) responsible for a violent attack on Enforcement Directorate officials' vehicles during a raid at the residence of former leader Pinarayi Vijayan. Chennithala stated the act was part of a conspiracy to create disorder under the newly formed United Democratic Front (UDF) government.
The Home Minister assured that stringent measures would be taken against all individuals involved, regardless of their stature. Despite the absence of prior notifications from the ED regarding the raids, the police efficiently intervened wherever necessary. The recent ED operations were linked to financial transactions involving Vijayan's daughter's company and a sand mining enterprise.
The raids were triggered by concerns raised by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office regarding potential illegitimate transactions. The investigation focused on funds allegedly exchanged between Vijayan's daughter's enterprise and CMRL without any service provision. Meanwhile, authorities have detained four suspects following clashes outside a CPI(M) office.
