UN to Honor Two Indian Peacekeepers for Their Sacrifice

Two Indian peacekeepers, Harbhajan Singh and Sujit Kumar Pradhan, will receive posthumous honors from the UN for their ultimate sacrifice. Additionally, Major Abhilasha Barak will be recognized for outstanding contributions in Lebanon. India remains a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping operations.

The United Nations is set to honor two Indian peacekeepers posthumously on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers. Lance Havildar Harbhajan Singh and Naib Subedar Sujit Kumar Pradhan will receive the Dag Hammarskjold Medal for their selflessness and service in conflict zones.

Moreover, the UN will acknowledge Major Abhilasha Barak's efforts in gender advocacy in Lebanon with a prestigious award. India, a major supporter of UN peacekeeping missions, contributes over 4,200 personnel, with nearly 180 Indians having died in the line of duty.

The theme for this year's Day of Peacekeepers is 'Invest in Peace', highlighting the ongoing need for political and financial support to sustain these crucial missions worldwide.
