Efforts to place a Buddha statue in Hardoi without proper authorization caused an uproar, leading to a confrontation with authorities. The incident, which unfolded in Mahuakola village, escalated as disagreement with local villagers and officials led to stone-pelting.
Several police officers, including a female constable, were injured. In response, authorities detained two individuals and are working to identify others involved. A peacekeeping police presence remains to ensure stability. District officials, including Superintendent of Police Ashok Meena, later addressed the villagers to calm tensions.
