89 Volumes of Central Legislative Assembly Records Unveiled in Delhi

89 historic volumes from the Central Legislative Assembly's proceedings between 1924-1930 were released. Lok Sabha Speaker emphasized their educational value for the younger generation. The event, held at the Delhi Assembly, also showcased the importance of preserving parliamentary history in strengthening democracy.

On Thursday, 89 important historical volumes documenting the proceedings of the Central Legislative Assembly from 1924 to 1930 were released in a ceremony at the Delhi Assembly. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla remarked on the significance of these records in providing guidance to future generations.

At the event, attended by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, and Delhi Parliamentary Affairs Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Birla also launched the assembly's inaugural magazine, 'Vidhan Chetna'. He highlighted how these volumes enhance public understanding of legislative practices during the British era.

Birla noted that spirited and factual debates in legislative forums contribute to the strengthening and dignity of constitutional institutions, further enhancing India's democratic image globally. Rijiju echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the preservation of historical records as essential to sustaining democracy.

Rijiju warned against using legislative platforms for personal glorification, stressing that undermining such institutions can threaten democracy. He urged that respect for these bodies is a collective responsibility, as failing to do so could weaken democratic foundations.
