The U.S. anti-drone system called Merops is now operational in Romania. However, Brigadier General Gheorghe Maxim explained that its use in city environments is too risky. This assessment came after a drone fell on an apartment building, leading to an explosion.

NATO member Romania revealed on Friday that a drone injured two individuals in a city in the southeast of the country. The incident occurred during a nighttime Russian assault on Ukraine, marking the first instance of a drone strike in a densely populated area within Romania, causing casualty.

This development has put a spotlight on the dangers and challenges of employing anti-drone systems in urban settings, given the recent cross-border ramifications of the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
