In a significant development, Jharkhand Police have apprehended the leader of the outlawed People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), Amrit Horo, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh. This arrest occurred on Thursday during a targeted operation in the Mahugaon forest area within the jurisdiction of Ranchi's Lapung police station.

According to police, Horo, also known by aliases Mecho and Surya, was detained alongside associates while allegedly planning a criminal act. The operation, led by a special squad that included the Quick Response Team and other units, resulted in the retrieval of a firearm, cartridges, mobile devices, and propaganda material.

Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan revealed that Horo was involved in around 50 criminal cases across districts including Chaibasa, Khunti, Gumla, and Ranchi. Following the death of Martin Kerketta and arrest of previous leader Dinesh Gope, Horo emerged as the primary leader of the PLFI, a split-off group from the Maoists. Ranjan described Horo's capture as dealing a crippling blow to the group's activities.
