Israeli forces have seized control of Beaufort Castle, a significant historic site perched atop a mountain in southern Lebanon, during what marks their most extensive advance into the country in over a quarter-century. This operation unfolds amid heightened military engagement with Hezbollah fighters in the area.

The capture of the site followed days of intensive clashes and airstrikes. Despite an official ceasefire since mid-April, tensions remain high with scheduled talks in Washington looming. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the raising of the national flag over the historic castle, marking a symbolic gesture in the ongoing conflict.

With the aim of neutralizing Hezbollah infrastructure in the region, Israeli troops have expanded operations farther into southern Lebanon, designating areas between the Litani and Zahrani Rivers as combat zones. This move has led to significant displacement, with calls urging residents of Nabatiyeh and Tyre to evacuate.
