An inspector from Odisha's Baranga police station has been relocated following claims of police brutality. Locals alleged that police tortured Rakesh Behera when he refused to identify a found body as his missing wife. The inspector, Niranjan Nayak, has been reassigned to the Cuttack deputy commissioner's office.
The situation escalated as villagers protested, demanding clarity on Behera's health, who is reportedly in critical condition at a Cuttack hospital. The state police chief has called for an investigation into these allegations. Behera’s missing wife was later discovered safe in Delhi.
