Kerala's government plans to transfer the investigation of ADM Naveen Babu's death to the CBI, sparking mixed reactions. The Kerala government is considering assigning the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to delve into the mysterious death of former Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu, as concerns grow over the current investigation. The state's Cabinet is expected to finalize the decision soon.
Congress MLA Pazhakulam Madhu confirmed that Chief Minister V D Satheesan assured Babu's widow, Manjusha, during a recent meeting, that a CBI investigation would be initiated. This development has been met with relief by Babu's family, who were previously dissatisfied with the police's handling of the case.
While this decision is a source of solace for Babu's family, including his brother Praveen, the move is not without its critics. The CPI(M) has expressed skepticism over the decision, labeling it politically charged. Kannur district secretary K K Ragesh questioned why the government would pursue a demand previously dismissed by both the Supreme Court and the High Court.
The controversy surrounding Babu's October 2024 death, which occurred shortly after local political upheaval, continues to drive a wedge between political factions in Kerala. Despite previous legal setbacks, Babu's family remains hopeful that a CBI investigation will clarify his cause of death and secure justice.
