The party office of Mathurapur TMC in South 24 Parganas faced vandalism by villagers on Sunday over accusations of illegal storage of flood relief supplies, according to police reports.
Authorities quickly managed to restore order after the incident, which saw damage to windows and signs. Locals claimed the office was erected unlawfully over a waterbody and alleged misuse of relief resources.
Bapi Haldar, TMC MP, argued that the attack was politically motivated amid leadership changes in the state, asserting that the supplies were intended for aiding flood-stricken residents.
Local TMC leadership blamed the BJP for orchestrating the attack, a claim the BJP adamantly denied, assuring their non-involvement.
