The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has taken a major step towards creating a more supportive and family-friendly workplace with the inauguration of a new daycare facility for employees' children at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi. The facility was inaugurated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, as part of the government's efforts to build a more inclusive and people-focused work environment.
Spread across nearly 600 square metres, the newly opened daycare centre has been designed to provide a safe, comfortable and engaging environment for children between the ages of six months and six years. The facility includes dedicated sleeping and resting areas, activity and play zones, learning resources suited to different age groups, child-friendly furniture and hygienic washrooms. Special feeding rooms and baby-changing spaces have also been created to support infants and their caregivers.
Trained childcare professionals and support staff will oversee daily operations, ensuring children receive proper care while their parents are at work. The centre has been planned with a focus on both safety and child development, creating a space where children can learn, play and grow in a nurturing environment.
Supporting Working Parents
The initiative aims to make it easier for employees to balance their professional responsibilities with family life. Access to quality childcare within the workplace can reduce stress for working parents and provide reassurance that their children are being cared for in a secure environment nearby.
Officials said the daycare facility represents more than just a new workplace amenity. It reflects a broader commitment to creating an organisational culture that recognises the importance of family responsibilities and supports employee well-being. By bringing childcare services closer to the workplace, the ministry hopes to encourage greater participation and productivity among employees while promoting a healthier work-life balance.
Building a More Inclusive Workplace
Several senior officials attended the inauguration ceremony, including MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee, Director General (Training) Dilip Kumar, Additional Secretary Niranjan Kumar Sudhansu and other representatives from the ministry and its affiliated institutions.
The ministry said the new facility aligns with the government's vision of developing modern institutions that respond to the evolving needs of today's workforce. As India continues its journey towards becoming a future-ready economy, initiatives such as workplace childcare centres are increasingly being viewed as essential components of inclusive growth and employee welfare.
The opening of the daycare facility at Kaushal Bhawan highlights the government's focus on creating workplaces that not only support professional excellence but also recognise the importance of family, care and well-being in everyday life.
