EU Expands Sanctions Against Russian Allies
The European Union has imposed additional sanctions against 34 individuals and 47 entities involved in supporting Russia's war efforts. These measures target sectors linked to Russia's military-industrial activities and political interference. The sanctions come as EU officials deliberate on a broader 21st package of punitive measures.
The European Union has intensified its stance against individuals and entities tied to Russia's military and industrial operations by imposing a fresh set of restrictive measures. This move adds pressure on those supporting the Russian war effort.
A total of 34 individuals and 47 entities, including those associated with the shadow fleet of oil and gas tankers, have been added to the sanctions list. These are aligned with Russia's political interference activities, according to an EU council statement released on Monday.
While the new restrictions have been approved, EU member states are currently discussing a wider 21st package of sanctions. This ongoing discussion involves EU's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, signaling a continued and potentially escalated approach by the EU in a statement.
