Tensions Rise in Raqqa: Security Forces Thwart ISIS Attack
A Syrian security officer was killed as forces stopped an ISIS assault on an internal security HQ in Raqqa. Two militants were involved; one was neutralized, the other detonated an explosive vest. This is part of ISIS's renewed offensive against President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who previously fought alongside Nusra Front.
In a significant escalation of violence in Raqqa, Syria's Interior Ministry confirmed the thwarting of an ISIS assault on a key internal security headquarters, resulting in the death of one security personnel.
The attack involved two suicide bombers aiming to infiltrate the facility. Security forces managed to neutralize one attacker, while the other detonated an explosive vest, injuring three officers before being subdued.
This incident highlights a recent surge in ISIS operations against President Ahmed al-Sharaa's administration, following his history of battling Islamic State forces during Syria's civil conflict.
