Parliament Affairs Ministry Holds Yoga Workshop Ahead of Yoga Day

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs organised a special yoga workshop in New Delhi on Thursday as part of activities leading up to International Yoga Day 2026. The session was held at the Main Committee Room in Parliament House Annexe and brought together officers and staff members of the ministry to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga and breathing exercises.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr Ramesh Kumar, Professor in the Department of Yoga Science at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, Delhi.

Ministry Highlights Importance of Yoga

The event was inaugurated by Dr Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, who introduced the guest speaker and outlined the government's planned activities for International Yoga Day 2026.

Addressing participants, he spoke about the significance of yoga as a tool for maintaining health, improving focus and supporting overall well-being in daily life.

The workshop forms part of wider efforts across government departments to encourage greater awareness and participation in yoga practices ahead of the annual international observance.

Session Focuses on Stress Management and Productivity

During the programme, Dr Ramesh Kumar led participants through a series of yoga postures and pranayama exercises designed to promote relaxation and physical fitness.

He explained how incorporating yoga into the workday can help employees manage stress more effectively while improving concentration, energy levels and workplace productivity.

The session also highlighted the role of controlled breathing techniques in enhancing mental clarity and supporting emotional balance, particularly in demanding professional environments.

Officers and Staff Join the Wellness Initiative

Several senior officials and employees of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs took part in the workshop.

Among those present were Dr Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, Shri Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Secretary, and Shri S.S. Patra, Deputy Secretary, along with other officers and staff members.

The programme provided participants with practical techniques that can be incorporated into their daily routines, reinforcing the message that regular yoga practice contributes to healthier lifestyles and improved workplace well-being.

The workshop forms part of the ministry's efforts to mark International Yoga Day 2026 and encourage greater adoption of yoga as a simple and effective tool for physical and mental wellness.
