The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has expanded the digital services available on the RajmargYatra mobile application by introducing online Local Passes and the MargMitra Help Centre, making highway travel more convenient while reducing paperwork and improving access to commuter support. The new features are part of the Government of India's Digital India initiative and are designed to simplify toll payments, grievance redressal and access to highway-related services through a single digital platform.

Local toll passes now available online

NHAI has launched a digital Local Pass facility that allows eligible commuters to purchase monthly toll passes directly through the RajmargYatra app without visiting a toll plaza. The service has been introduced initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Delhi's Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and will be expanded to more toll plazas across the country in the coming months.

Residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can buy a monthly Local Pass that provides unlimited travel through that toll plaza. Earlier, commuters had to visit toll plazas in person and submit documents to prove their eligibility. The entire process can now be completed digitally within minutes.

The system uses consent-based integration with DigiLocker and VAHAN to retrieve verified details such as address, vehicle registration and linked FASTag information. Eligibility is also confirmed through GIS-based verification, reducing manual documentation while improving transparency and user convenience.

MargMitra offers multilingual digital assistance

NHAI has also introduced MargMitra, an intelligent digital help centre integrated into the RajmargYatra app to serve as a single platform for highway-related information, assistance and grievance registration.

Users can type or speak their questions in any of 22 Indian languages, allowing the platform to provide information or guide them to the relevant service.

MargMitra offers assistance with FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, Annual Pass and Local Pass services, along with answers to frequently asked questions.

Real-time complaint tracking and safety reporting

For issues requiring official intervention, users can register complaints directly through the app, which automatically forwards them to the appropriate department. Commuters can track the progress of their complaints in real time and file appeals if they are not satisfied with the resolution. The platform also allows users to check FASTag blacklisting status, view pending e-Notices, and report road safety concerns such as stalled vehicles or encroachments on National Highways.

NHAI said the new services build on the success of the RajmargYatra app, through which more than 80 lakh Annual Passes have already been purchased with real-time activation. The authority encouraged highway users to download the app on Android and iOS devices to access its growing range of digital services designed to make travel safer, faster and more convenient.
