South African musician Mampintsha arrested over assaulting Babes Wodumo

Mandla Maphumulo aka Mampintsha has been detained for assaulting his girlfriend Bongekile Simelane, popularly known as Babes Wodumo. Police arrested the South African musician Mampintsha after social media outrage followed a viral video that clearly portrayed him physically abusing his partner.

Babes Wodumo is trending on Twitter in South Africa, as is the hashtag #StopWomenAbuse. Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa said he was 'horrified' and called on the singer to press charges. However, the good news was later announced by the South African Police that claimed his arrest on March 5. He will be appearing in court soon.

Bongekile Simelane (Babes Wodumo) reported the attack to the Durban Police. The attack was streamed live on her Instagram account. Eyewitness News reminds her parents' gratitude to the South Africans for lending supports. They said that although their daughter isn't doing well after the torment, still she will be honouring her appointments.

Mandla Maphumulo has been charged with assault, Police Vishnu Naidoo confirmed. "The suspect that is wanted in connection of the alleged assault on Babes Wodumo has been arrested and is currently in police custody. We are in the process of processing him and taking him to court soon," Naidoo added.
