Russia to review pardon request for convicted Norwegian spy soon - RIA

Russia will review a pardon request submitted by Norwegian national Frode Berg who was convicted of espionage in Russia in the near future, a Russian foreign ministry official said on Friday, the RIA news agency reported.

Berg, a retired guard on the Norwegian-Russian border, was detained in December 2017 and jailed for 14 years after being convicted of gathering intelligence about nuclear submarines. He pleaded not guilty to charges of espionage on behalf of Norway.
