Man kills aunt on suspicion of black magic; held
A 29-year-old man was arrested from Jawhar in Palghar district for allegedly killing his 60-year-old aunt last week on suspicion that the "black magic" practiced by her was responsible for illness of his family members, police said Monday. The accused Malvan Tembre suspected that his aunt Santi Tembre practiced some "witchcraft" that made his kin fall sick frequently, said Jawhar police station inspector Dattu Bhoye.
He allegedly attacked Santi on February 8 with a sickle at her house when she was alone, and fled after committing the crime, the officer said, adding that the accused was finally arrested Sunday. Police had registered a case on the complaint of the deceased woman's husband..
