The three-day budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly was Thursday adjourned sine die after transacting listed business, including clearing of a vote on account for the government's Rs 8,94,38 crore expenditure for the first quarter of the next fiscal. Besides, the House cleared the third supplementary budget of Rs 122 crore for the current fiscal.

Before the assembly was adjourned, Chief Minister Kamal Nath said Rs 2 lakh farm loan each of 25-30 lakh cultivators would be waived in a fortnight. Nath announced he is going to kick-off the loan waiver programme at a function in Ratlam district Friday.

He assured the opposition that the farmers whose crops have been damaged by hail and frost will be compensated. Nath said the opposition need not worry about the concerns of farmers, which he said, will be adequately addressed by his government.

His assurance came after Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargav raised questions over the procedure adopted by the Congress government to write-off farm loans.
