The Delhi Traffic Police is advancing its technology by upgrading Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards at key intersections throughout the capital. The move aims to offer commuters real-time traffic information, according to officials.
Currently, 42 of the existing 92 VMS boards have been successfully updated to integrate with the new system. This expanded network will provide live updates on traffic congestion, route diversions, accidents, weather conditions, and road blockages. These enhancements are designed to aid commuters in planning their journeys more effectively, including choosing alternative routes when necessary.
This improvement in infrastructure seeks to bolster smart traffic management and enhance commuter comfort by reducing delays and easing congestion on frequently traveled roads. Additionally, it is expected to enhance road safety, streamline traffic flow, and cut down on fuel use and emissions by minimizing idle time caused by traffic bottlenecks.
