The Delhi government is implementing a series of initiatives to alleviate the impact of extreme heat, including the establishment of 100 hydration points across major areas. These efforts aim to provide relief to the public during soaring temperatures.
Under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu, a comprehensive meeting resulted in directives such as the formation of a draft Cool Roof Policy and the construction of shelters for animals and birds. The administration is focusing on providing aid to daily wage workers and enhancing infrastructure with water and cooling facilities.
The city has identified vulnerable JJ clusters for cool roof interventions in association with SEEDS India, aiming to expand thermal comfort measures. Additionally, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority has started campaigns for heatwave awareness, while local governing bodies prepare shaded zones and water points for both people and animals.
