Senior journalist Deepak Tiwari appointed VC of MP varsity

The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed senior journalist Deepak Tiwari as Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University. The state government Saturday issued the order appointing Tiwari for a period of four years after a meeting of the university's general council headed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

Tiwari, who at 48 years of age will be the university's youngest VC, is a former journalist with Press Trust of India (PTI) and is currently a special correspondent with Week news magazine. He began his career in journalism from All India Radio (AIR) nearly 26 years ago and worked in Central Chronicle and Free Press Journal before joining PTI.

He has penned 'Political History of Madhya Pradesh' in two volumes and is the winner of several prestigious awards including Sarojini Naidu Award and UNDP Award..
