Mamata welcomes Abhinandan to 'sweet home' as Pakistan prepares to hand over

With India's fighter pilot Abhinandan Varthaman set to return to his homeland after being in Pakistan's custody for two days, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday welcomed his imminent return. "Welcome home #AbhinandanVarthaman Welcome home sweet home," Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle.

Wing Commander Varthaman was captured on the Pakistani side of the LoC after his fighter jet was shot down by an enemy aircraft during a dog fight on Wednesday. The pilot is scheduled to be handed over to India at the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab on Friday.
