Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy pay tribute to Parrikar

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Sunday led the state in condoling the death of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who passed away after a prolonged illness. "Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri. Manohar Parrikar. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss," Gowda, who is also the chief of JDS, tweeted.

Kumaraswamy said Parrikar was respected by all across party lines. Extremely saddened to hear of the passing away of the Chief Minister of Goa Shri #ManoharParrikar. He was respected by all across political lines. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace, he said in a tweet.

Condoling the death, former chief minister Siddaramaiah in a statement said he was saddened by the news and prayed that the bereaved family get enough strength to bear the loss. In his condolence message, BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa said the country has lost "an honest, educated and well-mannered politician".
