2 girls drown while crossing river on foot

Two minor girls drowned in a river Wednesday while they were crossing it on foot in Bihar's Purnea district, police said. The incident happened in Lalganj Musahri village under the jurisdiction of Maranga police station when the girls were crossing Saura river to supply drinking water to their parents who were working on the other side, the police said.

The deceased have been identified as Sujata Kumari (6) and Lakshmi Kumari (5), both residents Lalganj Musahri village, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Maranga police station, Mukesh Kumar Mishra, said. The bodies were fished out from the river and sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination..
