AAP's East Delhi candidate Atishi Tuesday said about 80 per cent of the people in the locality have not even heard the name of incumbent BJP MP Mahesh Giri, noting that the work done by him in his constituency in the last five years is "negligible". It was part of the "report card" released by the Aam Aadmi Party of all elected MPs in Delhi. Earlier, report cards of BJP leaders Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari and Meenakshi Lekhi was also released.

Atishi said Giri's achievements can be judged from the fact that about 80 per cent of the people in the locality have not even heard his name. She said he has not fulfilled any of the promises made during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. "One can see his work in his adopted village Chilla. People are extremely angry in the area over the condition of his adopted village. He promised a super-specialty hospital in the area, but that didn't happen either," Atishi said.

She also said bad roads and electricity issues are prevalent in the area and nothing has been done by the sitting MP to improve the conditions. Atishi was backed by senior party leader Gopal Rai, who said he promised to open an East Campus on lines of South Campus, but they were "hollow promises by which people were fooled". Giri, in response, questioned the credibility of the AAP government to come out with this report. "Though there are many examples of the work done by us, for example Rs 300 crore released for IP university, but we are not answerable to the AAP," he said.
