Repolling in one booth in Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency

The Election Commission will hold re-polling in one booth in Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency on April 30, EC officials said here Monday. Repolling at booth number 83 in Kalamassery assembly segment was necessitated after the poll officials failed to clear the mock poll votes from the voting machine before commencing the actual election on April 23, they said.

The re-polling will be held at East Kadungallur service cooperative bank auditorium. There are 912 votes in the booth.

A total of 715 votes were cast in the booth in the April 23 polls. When the final tally was done, the voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machine had displayed 758 votes--a difference of 43 votes.

EC officials said the repolling would begin at 7 AM and end at 6 PM. CPI(M) leader P Rajeev, Congress' Hibi Eden and BJP's Alphons Kannanthanam are among the candidates seeking a mandate in Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency.
