Two Nigerians were arrested for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking and heroin worth Rs 5 crore was seized from their possession, police said Thursday. The accused were identified as Lucky Joseph (36) and Charles (31), they said. "The arrest was made on April 28 following a tip off that the accused duo would come to supply a consignment of heroin at Uttam Nagar," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) A K Singla said. He said 3.5 kg of heroin worth Rs 5 crore in international market was seized from them, he said.

Charles and Joseph used to supply heroin in Delhi and Punjab after procuring it from from a fellow national and some female associates in north-eastern states and Afghanistan, the DCP said. Efforts were underway to trace their associates, he said.

According to police, Joseph arrived in India in 2013 and continued living here even after his business visa expired a year later. A north-eastern girl used to bring heroin for him from Afghanistan. Charles came to India on a business visa about three years ago. He lived in a rented accommodation in Uttam Nagar, which was also being used for stashing heroin, police added.
