Two Naxals were arrested Monday and four IEDs recovered from them in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said. The lower-rung cadres, identified as Kowasi Hunga (23) and Kartami Kosa (25), were apprehended by a joint team of security forces near Aautpalli village under Basaguda police station area, a local police official said.
Acting on a specific input about the meeting of villagers being convened by Naxals in Lingagiri, Korsaguda and Aautpalli villages in Basaguda, located around 450 kms from state capital Raipur, the combined squad of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of CRPF and local police had launched an operation there, he said. On sensing the presence of security personnel, the two ultras tried to escape but were nabbed after a short chase, the official added.
Four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a couple of detonators, electric wire and switches were recovered in a bag from their possession, he said. While Hunga was active as a janmilitia member, Kosa was working as Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangthan, which is a frontal wing of Maoists, he said.
They were allegedly involved in a gun battle between security forces and ultras on March 29 this year in Aautpalli area.
