Extend time for crop insurance premium payment: Wadettiwar

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar on Tuesday demanded an extension of a month for farmers to file crop insurance premium. The time to pay this premium ends in July, he said.

In a statement, Wadettiwar said many farmers had not been able to pay their crop insurance premium during the Kharif season and hence should be given a month's time, adding that sowing was not up to the mark due to a weak monsoon. He claimed Kharif sowing was not even 50 per cent in Vidarbha and Marathwada, while crop loan disbursement is less than 50 per cent.
