Bharti Airtel overcoming Jio effect? Net profit rises 29 pct in Q4

Bharti Airtel reported a 29 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 107.2 crore in March quarter, company's revenue jumped 6.2 per cent to Rs 20,602.2 crore. Airtel has suffered heavily in terms of profits, revenues and user base because of Jio.

Reliance Jio's launch in FY17 had unleashed one of the most brutal price wars in India's telecom market, and consequently, the industry's average revenue per user plunged about 38 per cent. Jio offered services free-of-cost for a long period of time which earned the deep-pocketed operator a base of loyal consumers when it finally started charging for its services.
