Gunfire heard in compound of governor after US commander met Afghan governor

A burst of gunfire was heard in the compound of the governor of the southern Afghan province of Kandahar on Thursday, soon after a meeting with the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, General Scott Miller, witnesses and Afghan officials said.

There was no immediate word on whether Miller was caught up in the incident but the police commander of Kandahar, General Abdul Razeq, was wounded, an aide said.
